We are privileged to be the official agent for the prestigious Breeders Cup World Thoroughbred Championship Races, as well as the official USA agent for the Dubai World Cup.

We are third generation custom brokers/ freight forwarders. Joseph C. Santarelli worked as a Customs Broker and Freight Forwarder as far back as the mid 1950’s. His sons, Joseph N. Santarelli Sr. and Charles Santarelli (President and Import Department Head of Mersant International) along with Charles Merendino, founded Mersant International in 1977. We are delighted that the family tradition continues. Joseph Santarelli Jr. (Secretary) and Christopher Santarelli (Treasurer) along with Harry Zahariou (Vice President) lead the equine department. Charles (Chuck) Santarelli (Vice President-Operations) heads the export department. The next generation of Mersant International, led by veteran Charles Santarelli, has already built on Mersant International’s reputation by expanding its equine and export departments; and we look look forward to meeting our current and prospective clients’ demanding shipping needs.  

In addition to the above in this closely held company, we have an outstanding staff of 24 people. In our prestigious Equine departments we have in Los Angeles, Mr. Mark Stern, and in our Lexington office our manager is Mrs. Sarah Munoz accompanied by Mrs. Leta Noble, Ms. Wendy Pickney and Ms. Alberta Buttner In New York, we have Mr. Paul Weygand and Mrs. Eileen Zahariou and Mr. Thomas Thornton. 

In our accounting department Ms. Christine Mitchell is our manager and Mr. Vincent Spano handles all accounts payable as well as receivables. 

Our import Freight department, capably managed by Mr. Nick Treppiedi, consists of Ms. Lisa Avery, Mr. Robert Pignotti, and in traffic, Ms. Patricia Ondra, and Ms. Brenda Velasquez.
